Islamabad, Acting Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani met with Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Sadiq Khan.

In this meeting, the two sides discussed important issues for improving relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and resolving current issues. The guests expressed condolences on behalf of Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, his assistant and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on the martyrdom of Khalilur Rehman Haqqani. They expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the martyr and the Afghan nation and prayed for the eternal peace of the martyr. Pakistan’s Special Representative Sadiq Khan also expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Khalilur Rehman Haqqani. He said, “We are determined to resolve the current issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan through joint efforts, so that economic and civil relations between the two countries can be strengthened.” Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani welcomed the guests and mentioned the religious, cultural and historical commonalities of the two neighboring countries. He stressed: “The current situation requires that joint efforts be intensified to resolve peace and security and political issues, so that relations between the two nations are protected from deterioration and the stability and development of the region are guaranteed.” At the end of the meeting, both sides stressed the need to continue cooperation and understanding to improve relations.
