Rawalpindi,In a significant stride towards strengthening regional cooperation, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), held a series of high-level meetings during his official visit to Bangladesh, reaffirming the longstanding bonds between the two nations’ armed forces.
According to military media wing, During his visit, General Mirza met Chief Advisor H.E. Mr. Muhammad Yunus, Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of Air Staff, and Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan, Principal Staff Officer, Armed Forces Division.
Both sides discussed the evolving global and regional security environment, emphasizing the need for enhanced defence and security cooperation. General Mirza underscored Pakistan’s appreciation for its fraternal ties with Bangladesh, highlighting a shared commitment to deepening relations based on sovereign equality, mutual respect, and trust.
The meetings concluded on an optimistic note, with both nations agreeing to expand military-to-military collaboration and explore new avenues of partnership in training, strategy, and defence production.
During his stay, the CJCSC also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty and students. The Bangladeshi civil-military leadership lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and commended their contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Earlier, upon arrival at Senakunjo, General Mirza received a Guard of Honour from a smartly turned-out contingent and laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban to pay homage to Bangladesh’s martyrs.
This visit marks yet another step in revitalizing Pakistan-Bangladesh defence relations, signaling both nations’ intent to build bridges of cooperation and shared security in a changing regional landscape.
