High-Level Somali Delegation Visits NADRA Headquarters

Islamabad, A distinguished delegation from Somalia, led by Mr. Abdiwali Ali Abdulle, Director General of Somalia’s National Identification & Registration Authority (NIRA), and teams from the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs & Reconciliation (MOIFAR) and NIRA including Mr. Abdulqani Muhammed Wehliye, Director of the Civil Registration Directorate of MOIFAR, visited the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) headquarters today.

NADRA is the technical partner of NIRA for implementing the Somali National Identity System Project. This project is funded by the Government of Pakistan to strengthen bilateral relations. The visit included the signing of the Factory Acceptance Test of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system developed by NADRA for Somalia and discussions on future collaborations.
Mr. Abdiwali Ali Abdulle praised NADRA’s software development and training efforts. The delegation showed keen interest in NADRA’s modern biometric-based enrollment and verification solutions, developed in collaboration with NRTC.

Chairman NADRA, Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the close bilateral relations and highlighting the mutual benefits of such collaborations.

The delegation toured NADRA’s facilities and expressed appreciation for the support in mutually developing technological solutions for Somalia’s population registration and related projects. The visit will be followed by a joint launch event in Somalia in the near future.
