Dhaka, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a series of high-level engagements in Dhaka, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to deepening relations with Bangladesh.
During meetings with Bangladesh’s Adviser for Commerce, Sk. Bashir Uddin, and Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain, both sides discussed enhancing trade, connectivity, cultural exchanges, and regional cooperation. Key issues such as SAARC revitalization, the Rohingya crisis, and Palestine were also on the agenda.
The visit witnessed the signing of six important agreements, including visa abolition for diplomatic/official passport holders, establishment of a joint working group on trade, collaboration between foreign service academies, media cooperation, academic partnerships, and a cultural exchange programme.
In a landmark initiative, Pakistan also launched the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor, offering 500 scholarships for Bangladeshi students over the next five years—100 of them in medicine—alongside training opportunities for civil servants. Scholarships under the Pakistan Technical Assistance Program have also been increased from 5 to 25.
The discussions and agreements reflect growing goodwill between the two countries, with both sides pledging to work toward stronger economic, cultural, and educational cooperation.
