PESHAWAR, In a series of high-impact operations, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has dismantled multiple terror networks, solved key assassination cases, and thwarted imminent strikes on sensitive sites, showcasing its enhanced operational capacity against evolving threats.
According to details shared by the CTD, investigators have cracked the case of the killing of Mufti Munir Shakir in an IED blast, identifying the gang of FAKs behind the attack. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects. In another breakthrough, CTD Peshawar busted a gang involved in at least 18 terrorist incidents in the city’s settled areas, including the killing of DSP Sardar Hussain Khan and 14 other police officials.
Acting on intelligence from arrested militants, the department recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives — including IEDs — from multiple hideouts. Officials revealed that at least six sensitive installations, already under terrorist reconnaissance and in the final stages of attack planning, were secured through timely action.
CTD also unmasked a network responsible for targeted killings of religious scholars and successfully dismantled a dangerous Daesh Khurasan cell directly linked to the 11 May 2025 suicide bombing in Peshawar.
A CTD spokesperson said these achievements reflect the department’s unwavering resolve to neutralise threats before they materialise and bring all fugitives to justice, ensuring the safety of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s citizens.
