Islamabad- The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have explored possible prospects of maritime cooperation to enhance regional connectivity and boost bilateral trade.
The important discussion to this end held during a meeting between H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, and H.E. Muhammad Junaid Anwar, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs in Islamabad.
The two sides agreed to establish institutional cooperation, exchange delegations and share technical expertise in maritime sector to further promote trade and investment between the two nations.
The Ambassador briefed the Federal Minister about homegrown economic reforms, strategic importance of Ethiopia and its connectivity with the rest of region and beyond.
He said Ethiopia values its relations with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, noting that the increased maritime cooperation is crucial for promoting bilateral trade and investment.
The Federal Minister assured the Ambassador of his full support in enhancing the bilateral cooperation in the maritime sector, reiterating Pakistan Government’s commitment to strengthen its relations with the African nations including Ethiopia.
