Peshawar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, said that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has formally launched the membership drive of the “Imran Khan Release Peace Movement” from Peshawar. In this regard, a special ceremony in Peshawar turned into a large public gathering, where thousands of people enrolled on the spot.
He stated that in the first phase of the membership campaign, camps will be established across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for which a digital dashboard will also be introduced. The campaign will then be expanded in phases to Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, where party workers will participate with great enthusiasm.
Shafi Jan said that the enthusiasm of the people in Peshawar was remarkable, with both the public and party workers showing keen interest in the membership drive. After the registration of 100,000 members, a formal oath-taking ceremony will be held. The overall target of the campaign has been set at one million members, which will be achieved soon.
He said that the movement will be entirely peaceful, constitutional, and democratic in nature, as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a peaceful political party. Imran Khan has always guided workers towards peaceful political struggle, and the party remains committed to this philosophy. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf believes in the supremacy of the Constitution, rule of law, and the promotion of democratic values.
He further said that all constitutional and legal avenues have been pursued for the release of the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan. However, restrictions have been imposed on meetings with him, and despite court orders, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has repeatedly been prevented from meeting him.
He stated that, driven by political victimization, the federal and Punjab authorities are denying Imran Khan access to his family, lawyers, and party leadership, which is a clear violation of court orders, the Constitution, and democratic norms.
He added that the Punjab government is continuously violating jail manual rules, while those imposed through “Form 47” have made a mockery of the Constitution and law. Ensuring the rule of law in the country is imperative, he stressed.
Shafi Jan concluded that no matter what tactics this “illegitimate government” employs, it will not be able to withstand the power of the people for long. The peaceful political and legal struggle of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will continue until the supremacy of the Constitution, law, democracy, and protection of public rights is ensured, and until the release of Imran Khan.
