Islamabad, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, is expected to visit the United States this week for a series of high-level consultations with his American counterparts, official sources confirmed.

The visit is part of ongoing bilateral military engagements and is seen as a return visit following the recent trip of General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), to Pakistan in late July.

In a press statement issued on August 4, CENTCOM highlighted General Kurilla’s engagements in Pakistan and other regional countries. During his visit, General Kurilla held meetings with senior Pakistani military leadership to discuss mutual security interests, regional stability, and counterterrorism cooperation.

As a mark of recognition for his contributions to military cooperation between the two nations, General Kurilla was also awarded the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) — one of Pakistan’s highest military honors — by the Government of Pakistan.

The upcoming visit by Field Marshal Asim Munir underscores the strategic importance of continued defense collaboration and regional security coordination between Pakistan and the United States.
