Islamabad, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, undertook an official visit to the State of Qatar to express Pakistan’s solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar in the aftermath of the recent Israeli attack on Doha.
During the visit, the Prime Minister held a warm and cordial meeting with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Doha on 9 September, terming it a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as a serious breach of international law. He conveyed the deep anguish of the government and people of Pakistan over this act of aggression against the brotherly State of Qatar.
Reaffirming the historic and fraternal ties between the two nations, the Prime Minister underscored that Pakistan and Qatar had always stood by each other in times of trial. He assured His Highness the Amir, the Royal Family, and the people of Qatar of Pakistan’s complete support and solidarity during this challenging time. The Prime Minister also expressed heartfelt condolences on the loss of precious lives, prayed for the recovery of the injured, and stressed the urgent need for unity within the Muslim Ummah in the face of repeated Israeli provocations.
Acknowledging Qatar’s constructive and mediatory role in efforts to bring peace to Gaza, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Israeli aggression was designed to undermine regional stability and derail ongoing diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives. He informed the Amir that, at Qatar’s request, Pakistan had called for an emergency session of the UN Security Council to deliberate on the situation. He further welcomed Qatar’s decision to host an Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit on 15 September, reiterating Pakistan’s willingness to co-sponsor and co-convene the event under the auspices of the OIC.
The Prime Minister also conveyed gratitude for Qatar’s steadfast support to Pakistan, particularly during its recent standoff with India.
His Highness the Amir of Qatar expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s timely visit and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to close cooperation with Pakistan in promoting peace, defending international law, and safeguarding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The visit once again reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Pakistan and Qatar and highlighted their shared resolve to uphold regional peace and stability.
