Quetta, Security forces and intelligence agencies in Balochistan have arrested a woman allegedly preparing for a suicide attack, officials confirmed.

The suspect, identified as Laiba from the Zehri area of Khuzdar, is reported to have been assigned a target and instructed to recruit other young women.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the operation helped prevent a potentially major incident.

Speaking at a press conference in Quetta alongside Home Minister Zia Langove and the Inspector General of Police, Bugti said the woman was allegedly linked to members of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and had been in contact with facilitators identified as Ibrahim and Dil Jan.

Bugti also warned that Afghanistan continues to serve as a safe haven for around 27 militant groups, with only a few currently targeting Pakistan, urging the international community to consider the long-term risks of terrorism.

The woman, speaking at the press conference, admitted being influenced and prepared for a suicide attack but vowed not to pursue such actions in the future, urging others to avoid similar paths.

Authorities noted that her personal circumstances were considered during the investigation and that one of her relatives was allegedly associated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

Officials said the plot was disrupted through coordinated intelligence efforts and local cooperation. Bugti highlighted that militant recruitment methods are evolving, including the use of online platforms and educational institutions, and emphasized that preventive and security measures will continue across the province.
