Rawalpindi, Security forces have killed 24 militants during extensive joint intelligence-based operations launched in Bannu district and adjoining areas following the recent spike in terrorist attacks, including a vehicle-borne suicide bombing that targeted law enforcement personnel and civilians, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were initiated to track down those responsible for the recent attacks and dismantle their support network. Fierce exchanges of fire took place over the past 24 hours, resulting in the killing of 24 militants.
ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in numerous terrorist activities and attacks on innocent civilians.
The military emphasized that intelligence-based operations in the area will continue until all those involved in the recent attacks are brought to justice.
Reaffirming its commitment to counterterrorism, ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, to eliminate terrorism and militant networks across Pakistan.
