Federal Cabinet Approves Defence Forces Act 2026 and Amendments to National Command Authority Act 2010

Islamabad, The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, met in Islamabad today and approved the draft Defence Forces Act 2026 and amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010.

The cabinet approved the draft Defence Forces Act 2026, which has been prepared as part of the legal process following amendments introduced through the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The proposed legislation aims to define the relevant administrative arrangements concerning the office of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters.

Following the cabinet’s approval, the draft Defence Forces Act 2026 will be presented before Parliament during its ongoing session for consideration and approval.

The federal cabinet also approved amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010, describing the changes as a necessary legal step following the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The amended draft of the National Command Authority Act 2010 will likewise be submitted to Parliament for approval.
