RAWALPINDI, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, visited Pakistan’s largest defence industrial complex, Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in Wah, and reviewed its production capabilities, export potential and contribution to strengthening the country’s defence industrial base.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit focused on POF’s operational capabilities, ongoing production activities and its potential to further contribute to Pakistan’s defence exports.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir was briefed in detail on various aspects of POF’s operations and its role in strengthening national defence through the indigenous development and production of a diverse range of military equipment.

The COAS & CDF also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition. The demonstrations reflected POF’s efforts to promote innovation, self-reliance and indigenous defence production while enhancing Pakistan’s overall defence manufacturing capabilities.

The Field Marshal was also given an overview of progress on the corporatization process following the enactment of the DIPRA Ordinance.

He was further apprised of ongoing indigenisation and upgradation initiatives at the defence complex. As part of these efforts, two new industrial plants are being installed and are expected to commence production by the end of the current year.

The visit reaffirmed the military leadership’s focus on advancing Pakistan’s defence industrial capabilities through greater self-reliance, indigenous production, technological innovation and the development of a stronger domestic defence manufacturing base.
