Corps Commanders’ Conference Reviews Security Situation, Reaffirms Readiness

RAWALPINDI, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, presided over the 277th Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

The forum offered Fateha for the martyrs of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and civil society who sacrificed their lives for the country, and paid tribute to their supreme sacrifices.

The conference reviewed the prevailing security environment and resolved to maintain a high level of operational readiness. It reaffirmed Pakistan’s right to self-defence and to take targeted action against terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.

The forum stated that the Taliban leadership facilitating terrorism on behalf of India would bear responsibility for the consequences of such actions.

The participants appreciated the sustained and successful intelligence-based counter-terrorism operations conducted by law enforcement agencies. At the same time, they stressed the need to complement kinetic operations with non-kinetic measures, including people-centric governance at the grassroots level, strategic engagement with the public, dismantling the terror-crime nexus allegedly operating under the patronage of vested interests, and strengthening police capabilities in line with the National Action Plan and Vision Azm-e-Istehkam.

The conference underscored the importance of maintaining internal stability and resolved that any attempt to create agitation or a situation similar to May 9, under any pretext, would be dealt with decisively in accordance with the rule of law, without hesitation or discrimination.

The forum welcomed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing it as a contribution to the countries’ longstanding strategic and collective defence ties.

It strongly condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, expressed solidarity with the Kingdom and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the security and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain.

The conference also reiterated Pakistan’s principled position on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and its support for resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir commended the formations for their operational preparedness and professionalism. He directed commanders to continue strengthening intelligence-based operations and improving combat capabilities through the adoption of modern technology, enhanced training and multi-domain integration.

The COAS and CDF expressed confidence that the Armed Forces, with the unwavering support of the nation, remain fully prepared to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
