ISLAMABAD — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to combat terrorism in all its forms and called for stronger international cooperation to address the threat of terrorism and cross-border security challenges.

Addressing the International Conference on “Pakistan’s Evolving Counterterrorism Landscape: TTP, Cross-Border Threats and Regional Security” in Islamabad on Monday, Dar highlighted Pakistan’s significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and stressed the importance of collective international efforts to eliminate the threat.

He urged the Afghan authorities to take concrete, verifiable and irreversible measures against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist groups. He also called on Afghanistan to ensure that its territory is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan or any other country.

Dar highlighted what he described as India’s sponsorship of terrorist groups operating against Pakistan, including activities originating from Afghan soil. He stressed that such support poses a serious threat to regional peace, stability and security.

The deputy prime minister outlined Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts, including the implementation of the National Action Plan, the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative and improvements in intelligence coordination. He also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in combating terrorism.

Dar praised Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership in the fight against terrorism and paid tribute to the armed forces, under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as law enforcement agencies, for their courage, dedication and sacrifices.

The address reaffirmed Pakistan’s position that combating terrorism requires coordinated international action, effective intelligence-sharing and concrete measures to prevent terrorist groups from using regional territory to launch attacks against neighbouring countries.
