Islamabad, Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways Salman Sadiq Shaikh has strongly denied the news published in an English daily that states that bogies imported from China are unfit to run in Pakistan. He said that unprofessional reporting was done on a technical subject that needs proper understanding before commenting on any of its aspect. Sadiq said that the purpose of this news is nothing but negative propaganda about Pakistan Railways. He added that these passenger coaches are fully compatible with the system of Pakistan Railways. The CEO said that the new coaches were thoroughly inspected and de-processed after which they were cleared to run on trial basis. After successful trial, all coaches are now ready to run. He said that we have got these bogies from an internationally renowned company through Transparent Competitive Bidding. The warranty period of these coaches is two years and they will operate for the first six months under the supervision of Chinese experts. The new coaches have been designed keeping in mind the International Railway Standards and International Standards of Safety. Sadiq said that the agreement with the company also included a provision for transfer of technology, and this is the reason why our officers and other staff also went to China for training. After the training we are in a position to manufacture such coaches in Pakistan itself, he said. CEO Railway condemned in the strongest possible terms self-made news item in the newspaper which was created to get a few clicks on the internet. He said that the organization is considering other options including legal action on this false news.
