Jamaican Conjoined Twins Arrive in Riyadh for Medical Evaluation Under Royal Orders

Riyadh, In line with the noble humanitarian directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, conjoined Jamaican twins, Azaria and Azura, arrived in Riyadh on Monday, accompanied by their parents, to undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation that will determine the feasibility of a complex separation surgery.

The twins were transported from Jamaica aboard a medically equipped evacuation aircraft operated by the Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense, reflecting the swift and coordinated response of Saudi authorities. Upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport, the family was immediately transferred to King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital at the Ministry of National Guard’s King Abdulaziz Medical City, where a multidisciplinary team of experts commenced the medical assessment process.

Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), and head of the surgical team, expressed profound appreciation for the leadership’s compassionate initiative. He emphasized that this act underscores Saudi Arabia’s cutting-edge medical proficiency and its unwavering global commitment to humanitarian aid—particularly in the care of pediatric patients with rare and life-threatening congenital anomalies.

“The Kingdom’s record in successfully performing complex twin separation surgeries has earned it global recognition. This humanitarian gesture once again highlights the trust in Saudi Arabia’s medical system and the leadership’s vision for global medical outreach,” stated Dr. Al Rabeeah.

The parents of the twins conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting their deep appreciation for the warm reception, hospitality, and the extraordinary efforts taken to address their children’s medical needs with urgency and empathy.

This initiative further cements Saudi Arabia’s role as a center of excellence in humanitarian medicine, aligned with Vision 2030’s objectives to enhance the Kingdom’s global contributions in health, relief, and medical diplomacy.
