RAWALPINDI, Commander of the Bahrain National Guard, General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, held high-level meetings with Pakistan’s military leadership during his official visit to the country, focusing on strengthening bilateral defence ties, regional security, and emerging military technologies.
According to official statements, the Bahraini commander called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment, and avenues for enhanced defence and security cooperation.
During the visit, General Shaikh Mohammed also met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. Discussions at Naval Headquarters focused on bilateral defence collaboration and maritime security, while talks at Air Headquarters covered the Pakistan Air Force’s modernization initiatives, including capability enhancement, indigenous development, advanced training reforms, and infrastructure upgrades.
A significant part of the discussions focused on emerging defence technologies, including drones, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors, digital innovation, and evolving air defence challenges. Both sides exchanged views on the growing role of unmanned systems in modern warfare and the need for integrated defence architectures to address emerging security threats.
The Bahraini commander praised the professionalism, operational readiness, and indigenous capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in training, technology transfer, and capacity-building initiatives. He also commended the advanced technological infrastructure of the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park and conveyed Bahrain’s interest in benefiting from Pakistan’s expertise in advanced aerospace and aviation domains.
The visit reflects the strong and longstanding defence partnership between Pakistan and Bahrain and is expected to further enhance military cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
