Islamabad, According to details, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Raza, held a significant press conference at the Rescue-15 Field Office, announcing the swift arrest of two members of an organized Afghan gang involved in armed robberies and home invasions. The suspects were found in possession of stolen items, including gold jewelry, artificial jewelry, watches, and other valuables worth over 35 million rupees, along with weapons used in the crimes.
DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza said that unidentified suspects had broken into a residence and looted gold jewelry, cash, watches, artificial jewelry, and other valuables at gunpoint. To address this serious incident, a special police team, led by SSP Operations/Investigation Muhammad Arsalan Shahzeb, was formed. Utilizing technical resources and human intelligence, the team apprehended two suspects, identified as Salam Khan and Faisal Khan, in a remarkably short time.
The recovered items included 1,117 grams of gold, artificial jewelry, watches, and other valuables. Weapons with ammunition used during the robberies were also seized. DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza commended the police team for their effective investigation and swift action, awarding them cash rewards and commendations.
The DIG also highlighted Islamabad Police’s proactive efforts to apprehend individuals involved in heinous crimes, such as murder, which have contributed to a significant reduction in crime rates in the capital.
Separately, DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza disclosed that, due to the police’s effective investigation, the perpetrators involved in a robbery-murder case were convicted by the honorable court. Rizwan Gohar, one of the convicts, received a death sentence and a fine of PKR 600,000, while Kamal Ahmed was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined PKR 500,000.
The incident, which occurred in January 2024 and was registered at Sumbal Police Station, involved the shooting of Waseem Akram during a robbery. The victim’s mother, who attended the press conference, expressed gratitude to Islamabad Police for their diligent investigation and assistance in securing justice for her son.
