Celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus

Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, which is celebrated annually on 3 July, the day the Red Army liberated the city of Minsk from German occupation during the Great Patriotic War. This year, this date is an anniversary – the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

Celebrating Independence Day, Belarusians pay tribute to the memory of Soviet soldiers who stood to death in the Brest fortress, near Minsk and Mogilev, Polotsk and Gomel, Orsha and Bykhov and other large and small borders.


Traditionally, a military parade was held in Belarus, which was opened by the Head of the Belarusian state Alexander Lukashenko.

In his speech, the President of Belarus called on the current generation to preserve peace in their native land. The world that our grandfathers and great-grandfathers gave us 80 years ago. Now, it is important to be worthy of their immortal feat.

At the end of his speech, the Head of State congratulated everyone on the holiday – Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of the Motherland.
