The summit yielded broad outcomes, including the adoption of a 10-year development strategy, the establishment of four security centers, the launch of six practical cooperation platforms, and plans for an SCO Development Bank. Global Governance Initiative: Building a Fair and Just World Order
At the “SCO Plus” meeting, President Xi Jinping introduced the Global Governance Initiative, hailed by Pakistani media and think tanks as a significant contribution to the international community. Ambassador Jiang highlighted that the initiative complements China’s Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives and aims to strengthen global governance based on sovereign equality, international law, multilateralism, a people-centered approach, and action-oriented cooperation.
He noted that China and Pakistan, as key members of the Global South, share a commitment to fairness and multilateralism. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s full support, acknowledging the initiative as a historic step toward stronger multilateralism and a more equitable global governance system.
Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of World Anti-Fascist Victory
On September 3, China held a grand ceremony in Beijing to mark the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and leaders from multiple countries attended the event, which included a large-scale military parade and the release of 80,000 peace doves.
Ambassador Jiang stated that the commemoration highlighted China’s firm resolve to pursue peaceful development, safeguard national sovereignty, and contribute to global peace. President Xi emphasized that history must never be forgotten, peace must be cherished, and unity is essential to counter aggression and hegemonic practices. The event also reaffirmed that China will remain a force for stability, peace, and progress worldwide.
