Lahore: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi met with a delegation of the Chinese business community led by Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren. During the meeting, measures for the protection of Chinese citizens working on various projects were discussed in detail. Chinese businessmen presented suggestions regarding the security plan. Interior Minister noted the suggestions of delegation and assured implementation of all possible recommendations. Senior officials from law enforcement agencies of the Federal and Punjab government also participated in the three hour long consultative meeting.
Interior Minister stressed that the protection of Chinese citizens is the top priority. He emphasized that maximum facilitation would be provided to Chinese citizens for business purposes. Furthermore, he highlighted that the SOPs of the security plan were formulated for the protection of Chinese citizens and every possible measures would be taken to ensure their safety. Moreover, he stated that from August 14, Chinese citizens will be able to obtain visas online, making it easier for Chinese businessmen to visit Pakistan.
Interior Minister said that the SOPs would be reviewed for the convenience of Chinese citizens. He also noted the suggestions of Chinese businessmen and assured that progress in this regard would be visible soon.
Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren said that Pakistan and China have exemplary relations. He mentioned that the Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi is a friend of China and hoped that this meeting will yield positive results.
A large number of Chinese businessmen, particularly those doing business in Punjab, attended the meeting. Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, National Coordinator NACTA Rai Tahir, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Home Secretary Punjab Noorul Amin Mengal, and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
