ISLAMABAD, Iranian Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni arrived here on Monday on an official visit to Pakistan, accompanied by a high-level delegation, in a trip expected to focus on bilateral cooperation, border management, regional security, and economic collaboration.
Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi received his Iranian counterpart at Islamabad International Airport, where Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry presented Momeni with a bouquet. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam was also present to welcome the visiting delegation.
Greeting the visiting minister, Mohsin Naqvi described Momeni as “a brother” and expressed optimism that the visit would yield positive outcomes for both countries.
“I warmly welcome my brother to Pakistan,” Naqvi said, adding that he hoped the Iranian interior minister had brought “good news” that would further strengthen bilateral relations.
He said Momeni’s visit would help deepen Pakistan-Iran cooperation and expressed hope for meaningful progress on regional issues during the high-level engagements.
The Iranian delegation included the Governor-General of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran’s Deputy Interior Minister, the Deputy Minister for Urban Development and Transport, the head of the National Iranian Oil Company, the Special Representative of the Iranian Minister of Agriculture, and other senior officials.
During his visit, Momeni is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, where discussions are expected to cover bilateral relations, border security, trade, energy cooperation, and the evolving regional situation.
Later, Mohsin Naqvi held formal talks with his Iranian counterpart, during which both sides reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Iran.
“I am delighted to meet my brother Mohsin Naqvi once again,” Momeni said, describing Pakistan-Iran relations as “exceptional” and rooted in mutual trust and shared history.
The Iranian minister also praised the hospitality extended by the Government and people of Pakistan, saying he had always appreciated the warm welcome he received during his visits.
Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence that the visit would prove productive and further reinforce cooperation between the two neighbouring countries, underscoring the importance of sustained high-level engagement in addressing shared challenges and advancing regional stability.
