NA Reaffirms Pakistan-China Strategic Partnership on 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Islamabad, Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, warmly welcomed the Chinese Parliamentary Delegation led by Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, Mr. Cai Dafeng, at Parliament House and expressed profound satisfaction over the enduring and time-tested friendship between Pakistan and China.

The meeting took place in the backdrop of the ongoing celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that Pakistan-China relations are founded on mutual trust, unwavering support, shared aspirations, and strategic cooperation. He observed that both countries have consistently stood by each other during difficult times and have remained sincere and dependable partners in promoting regional peace, stability, and development.

The Speaker remarked that the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations are not only reflective of the historic friendship between the two nations but also symbolize the deep-rooted bonds between their peoples, parliaments, and institutions. He extended heartfelt congratulations to Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji, the Chinese leadership, and the people of China on the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reiterated Pakistan’s firm resolve to further enhance cooperation with China in diverse fields, including parliamentary exchanges, trade and investment, connectivity, agriculture, technology, education, defense cooperation, and cultural and people-to-people contacts. He emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy continues to play an important role in strengthening mutual trust and expanding institutional collaboration between the two countries.

The Speaker noted that the Pakistan-China Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly is actively contributing towards promoting closer parliamentary coordination and strengthening legislative cooperation between the National Assembly of Pakistan and the National People’s Congress of China.

Referring to his visit to China in January 2026, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the high-level interactions and meaningful discussions held during the visit further reinforced the strategic partnership between the two countries and opened new avenues for cooperation in emerging sectors.

The Speaker also appreciated the constructive role played by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong in promoting bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that members of Parliament from both the treasury and opposition benches stand united in expressing solidarity with China and in supporting stronger bilateral cooperation.

Convener Parliamentary Friendship Group and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Ms. Romina Khursheed Alam, stated that Pakistan-China friendship has successfully withstood the test of time and remains vital for regional peace, economic growth, and shared prosperity. She emphasized that stronger parliamentary and public-level interactions would further consolidate bilateral ties. Senior parliamentarian Mr. Naveed Qamar stated that Pakistan and China share 75 years of unparalleled friendship, mutual trust, and close cooperation. He remarked that the hallmark of Pakistan-China relations has always been consistency, continuity, and mutual respect regardless of changing regional and international dynamics.

Member National Assembly Mr. Sher Ali Arbab stated that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s development agenda and continues to enjoy the full support of the Government and people of Pakistan. He noted that enhanced people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, and cooperation at the grassroots level are essential for further strengthening bilateral relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress of China, Mr. Cai Dafeng, thanked Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and the people of Pakistan for the warm hospitality extended to the Chinese delegation. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to further deepening bilateral relations over the next seventy-five years and described Pakistan-China friendship as a remarkable example of solidarity, mutual trust, and strategic cooperation under all circumstances.

Mr. Cai Dafeng emphasized that China is keen to expand cooperation with Pakistan in agriculture, science and technology, socio-economic development, innovative technologies, education, and people’s welfare initiatives. He also highlighted the growing collaboration between the two countries in the space sector and stated that China has recently trained two Pakistani astronauts, making them the first foreign nationals to receive training from the Chinese space agency.

The Chinese delegation underscored that Pakistan and China remain close partners in promoting regional connectivity, sustainable development, peace, and prosperity. Both sides agreed that stronger people-to-people interactions, media cooperation, and parliamentary engagement would further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two nations.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, MNAs Mr. Muhammad Jawed Hanif and Mr. Muhammad Usman Badini. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong was also present during the meeting.

Later, the Chinese Parliamentary Delegation witnessed the proceedings of the National Assembly session and National Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution titled “Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China,” marking a historic milestone in the longstanding and iron-clad friendship between the two brotherly nations.

Mr. Cai Dafeng and members of the Chinese Parliamentary Delegation witnessed the unanimous adoption of the resolution in the House.The resolution reaffirmed the National Assembly’s unwavering commitment to the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China and reiterated Pakistan’s support for further strengthening bilateral cooperation across all sectors.

The House expressed strong support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), recognizing it as a transformative initiative for sustainable socio-economic development, regional connectivity, industrial growth, and shared prosperity for Pakistan and the wider region.

The resolution also acknowledged the pivotal role of parliamentary diplomacy, mutual respect, and people-to-people contacts in further cementing Pakistan-China relations and promoting greater regional harmony and cooperation.

The National Assembly expressed its firm resolve that the next seventy-five years would witness an even stronger, more dynamic, and mutually beneficial partnership between Pakistan and China based on shared values, strategic trust, and common aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity.
