Pakistan Army Chief Concludes Key Iran Visit Amid Regional Mediation Efforts

Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, Syed Asim Munir, has concluded a short but highly significant official visit to Iran, where he held a series of high-level meetings focused on regional peace, de-escalation, and diplomatic mediation efforts.

According to the ISPR, the Field Marshal met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The discussions focused on accelerating the ongoing consultative process aimed at promoting peace, stability, and constructive engagement in the region following tensions that continued after the April 8, 2026 ceasefire.

ISPR stated that the meetings were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere, with both sides expressing optimism over recent diplomatic progress. Intensive negotiations during the last 24 hours reportedly produced encouraging developments toward reaching a broader understanding on key regional issues.

The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and sincere role in facilitating dialogue and supporting peaceful resolution of regional tensions.

Upon his arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior Iranian civil and military officials.
