Islamabad, Pakistan has facilitated the transfer of 22 crew members from the seized Iranian container ship MV Touska, in a move described as a confidence-building measure by the United States.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the crew members were flown into Islamabad late Sunday and are set to be handed over to authorities from Iran on Monday.

Officials further confirmed that the vessel will be transported back into Pakistan’s territorial waters, where it will undergo necessary repairs before being returned to its original owners.

The transfer process is being carried out with the coordination and support of both the United States and Iran, signaling a rare cooperative step amid ongoing regional tensions.

Pakistan welcomed the development, calling it a positive gesture that could help build trust between the concerned parties. The country also reiterated its commitment to facilitating dialogue and diplomacy, while continuing its mediation efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

The development comes at a time when regional dynamics remain sensitive, with diplomatic channels increasingly being emphasized to ease tensions and avoid further escalation.
