Rawalpindi: A high-level defence delegation from Indonesia, led by Lt Gen (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Defence of Indonesia, held talks with Federal Minister for Defence Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj and senior officials of the Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) in Rawalpindi on Monday, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.
During the meeting, Federal Minister Raza Hayat Harraj described Indonesia as a close friend and brotherly Muslim nation, emphasizing that recent high-level interactions between the two countries have set the pace for a more productive and forward-looking relationship. He highlighted Pakistan’s growing capabilities and potential in the field of defence production and expressed agreement on the establishment of Joint Working Groups (JWGs) to enhance defence production cooperation between relevant entities of both countries.
The Indonesian Defence Minister, Lt Gen (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, showed keen interest in expediting the formation of the proposed Joint Working Groups. He noted that the initiative would open new avenues for future collaboration and enable both countries to explore and benefit from each other’s strengths and capabilities in defence production.
Reiterating the importance of bilateral ties, Federal Minister Raza Harraj stated that relations between Pakistan and Indonesia are marked by mutual trust, respect, and goodwill. He also extended an invitation to Indonesian authorities to actively participate in the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2026, offering an opportunity to further explore defence collaboration and industrial partnerships.
Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to the Indonesian delegation, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said Pakistan is an important country with a rich culture, a working democracy, and a vibrant economy. Both sides expressed hope that the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia would continue to evolve into a durable, long-term partnership grounded in mutual trust and respect.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Indonesia to deepen defence ties and expand cooperation in defence production through structured and sustained engagement.
