Rawalpindi, The Pakistan Navy showcased its operational readiness and combat preparedness with a major exercise in the North Arabian Sea, highlighting both conventional and unmanned capabilities in line with modern naval warfare trends.
The drill featured the live firing of the LY-80(N) Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) from a Vertical Launching System at extended range, successfully engaging and neutralizing an aerial target. The exercise validated the long-range precision and robust air defence capabilities of Pakistan Navy’s modern systems.
In addition to air defence, the Navy demonstrated precision strike capabilities against surface targets using Loitering Munition (LM), effectively engaging and destroying targets in a display of modern naval firepower.
The exercise also marked a milestone in autonomous naval technology with the successful open-sea trials of an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). The trials highlighted the platform’s high-speed performance, mission-critical durability, extreme maneuverability, precision navigation, and resilience in adverse weather conditions. The USV offers a low-risk, high-impact solution with tactical stealth capabilities, reinforcing Pakistan Navy’s technological edge.
Commander Pakistan Fleet witnessed the exercise firsthand, underscoring the Navy’s ability to seamlessly integrate advanced systems into operational scenarios.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of the Naval Staff, praised the professionalism and operational competence of officers and sailors, reaffirming the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests and ensuring seaward defence under all circumstances.
The exercise underscores Pakistan Navy’s focus on combining modern technology, precision capabilities, and strategic readiness to meet evolving threats in the region.
