Islamabad, The Government of Pakistan has categorically rejected recent allegations made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the alleged involvement of Pakistani nationals in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Foreign Office (FO) emphasized that no credible or verifiable evidence has been shared to support these claims.

President Zelensky, during a recent visit to the northeastern Kharkiv region, alleged that Ukrainian forces are encountering foreign “mercenaries” from several countries, including China, Pakistan, and parts of Africa. In a statement posted on social media platform X, he stated:

“Our warriors in this sector are reporting the participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and African countries in the war. We will respond.”

Responding to the remarks, the Foreign Office issued a firm rebuttal:

“The Government of Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless and unfounded allegations of the involvement of Pakistani nationals in the conflict in Ukraine. To date, Pakistan has not been formally approached by the Ukrainian authorities, nor has any verifiable evidence been presented to substantiate such claims.”

The FO further stated that Pakistan would formally raise the matter with Ukrainian authorities and seek clarification.

Reaffirming its neutral stance, Islamabad reiterated its consistent position in favor of a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
