Pakistan Strengthens Industrial Cooperation with China through High-Level Engagements in Changzhou

Changzhou, China: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, along with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, visited leading industrial and technology enterprises in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, as part of Pakistan’s continued efforts to strengthen industrial collaboration and investment cooperation with China.

During the visit, the delegation toured the headquarters of StarCharge Group, one of the world’s leading intelligent EV charging and smart energy technology companies with operations in more than 60 countries. The delegation received a detailed briefing on the company’s advanced technological ecosystem, including electric vehicle charging infrastructure, energy storage systems, smart energy management solutions, and integrated cloud-based energy trading platforms.

Discussions focused on StarCharge’s current development and investment plans in Pakistan, including initiatives related to EV infrastructure deployment, smart energy systems, localisation strategies, and broader industrial technology collaboration. The delegation was also briefed on the establishment of the company’s local office and the deployment of group resources in Pakistan to support long-term industrial and operational expansion.

The delegation also visited Changfa Group, a major Chinese manufacturer of agricultural and industrial equipment with extensive expertise in tractors, agricultural machinery, diesel engines, and modern manufacturing systems. During the visit, Kingsbridge Ventures and Changfa signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at exploring future cooperation opportunities in Pakistan. The agreement seeks to promote phased localisation, technical collaboration, industrial development initiatives, and future manufacturing opportunities aligned with Pakistan’s industrial modernisation agenda.

As part of the engagements, the delegation was hosted by Mayor Zhou Wei and senior representatives of Changzhou’s municipal leadership. Detailed discussions were held on Changzhou’s industrial transformation and development model. Both sides exchanged views on China’s industrial achievements, innovation-driven manufacturing growth, export-oriented policies, and investment facilitation mechanisms, with particular emphasis on identifying lessons and opportunities that could support Pakistan’s ongoing industrialisation and economic transformation efforts.

The two sides agreed to further strengthen future cooperation through enhanced industrial engagement, exchange of expertise and ideas, support for trade and investment expansion, and practical collaboration aimed at advancing Pakistan’s manufacturing capabilities and long-term industrial development objectives.

Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to creating an enabling environment for industrial growth and international partnerships, adding that such engagements will play an important role in attracting investment, promoting technology transfer, and accelerating economic progress.
