Pakistan, Türkiye Reaffirm Strategic Defence Partnership During Army Chief’s Official Visit

Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is on an official visit to Türkiye to further strengthen the longstanding strategic and defence partnership between the two brotherly countries, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir held high-level meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler. The discussions focused on regional security, evolving geopolitical developments, and matters of mutual interest, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to expanding bilateral strategic cooperation.

At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, the Army Chief was accorded a Guard of Honour before holding detailed talks with General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Chief of the Turkish General Staff. The two military leaders reviewed regional security dynamics and professional military cooperation.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to strengthening bilateral military ties, Field Marshal Munir was awarded the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal by General Bayraktaroğlu.

The Army Chief also visited the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, where he met Commander General Metin Tokel. He later paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Türkiye, by laying a floral wreath at Anıtkabir.

According to the ISPR, the visit reflects the shared resolve of Pakistan and Türkiye to further deepen defence collaboration and continue working together to promote regional peace, stability, and security.
