Islamabad, Pakistan has welcomed the United States’ decision to designate the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its militant wing, the Majeed Brigade, as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). The U.S. move also officially lists the Majeed Brigade as an alias of the BLA.
Pakistan had already proscribed the Majeed Brigade as a terrorist entity on 18 July 2024. Both the BLA and the Majeed Brigade have been involved in numerous deadly attacks inside Pakistan, including the Jaffer Express terrorist incident and the Khuzdar bus attack, which claimed multiple innocent lives.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Pakistan’s position as a steadfast bulwark against terrorism, emphasizing that the country’s sacrifices have yielded significant counter-terrorism gains—not only for Pakistan’s own security but also for regional stability and global peace.
Reaffirming its determination to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, Pakistan stressed its continued commitment to working with the international community to address this shared challenge.
