Islamabad, A special ceremony was held at the Embassy of Türkiye in Islamabad to commemorate the July 15, 2016 as Democracy and National Unity Day. Federal Minister for Communications & President Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party Abdul Aleem Khan attended as the Chief Guest while Ambassador of Türkiye to Pakistan, Dr. Irfan Neziroglu while other prominent diplomatic figures also participated. The ceremony started with the National Anthems of Türkiye and Pakistan alongside hoisting of both countries’ flags. The Chief Guest Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan along with all participants observed a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of July 15, 2016.
In his keynote address, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan stated that Türkiye is a great nation whose progress serves as a role model for others. He emphasized that the people of Türkiye are deeply cherished by the hearts of the Pakistani nation. Abdul Aleem Khan reiterated that Pakistan’s relations with Türkiye have always been robust and will remain so, In Sha Allah. He paid tributes to the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressing his heartfelt joy on each visit to Türkiye. Abdul Aleem Khan Khan further noted that both nations are bound by agreements on mutual cooperation, trade, and development while the Türkiye-Pakistan alliance is a cornerstone for peace, prosperity and progress in the region. Highlighting the recent public gathering organized by the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, Abdul Aleem Khan remarked that participants not only waved Pakistani flags but also enthusiastically displayed Turkish flags as a symbolic gesture of the deep rooted relations between the two nations.
Addressing the ceremony, Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu paid rich tributes to the martyrs of July 15, 2016, recognizing their sacrifices and the Turkish people’s remarkable demonstration of unity and resilience which, he said, was in full accordance with the teachings of their national leader and hero Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Dr. Irfan Neziroglu expressed his commitment to further strengthen the close and brotherly ties between Türkiye and Pakistan and warmly welcomed the presence of Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan at the ceremony as Chief Guest.
