Uzbekistan’s private carrier Centrum Air has announced plans to expand its international network with the launch of direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore beginning in April, marking a further step in the deepening ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
The new route will connect Uzbekistan’s capital with Pakistan’s second-largest city twice a week, according to the airline. The move reflects growing demand for travel between the two countries and is expected to enhance connectivity for business travelers, tourists and students.
In recent years, air links between Uzbekistan and Pakistan have expanded steadily. Uzbekistan Airways, the national carrier, currently operates four weekly flights on the Tashkent–Islamabad and Tashkent–Lahore routes. More than 30,000 passengers have used these services to date.
Tourism flows have shown particularly strong growth. Nearly 19,000 Pakistani citizens visited Uzbekistan in 2025, taking advantage of the existing direct flight options, official figures indicate. Industry observers say the addition of Centrum Air’s services could further stimulate visitor numbers and facilitate people-to-people exchanges.
Beyond tourism, the new route is expected to bolster trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. Analysts note that improved air connectivity often serves as a catalyst for stronger business ties, academic collaboration and cultural exchange.
Founded in 2023, Centrum Air is one of Uzbekistan’s major private airlines. The carrier currently operates a fleet of 14 aircraft and has been actively expanding its route network as part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s aviation sector and international connectivity.
The launch of the Tashkent–Lahore service underscores Uzbekistan’s strategic focus on enhancing regional links and positioning itself as a growing hub for travel and commerce in Central Asia
