ISLAMABAD, Pakistan on Monday strongly rejected allegations by India’s Home Minister seeking to link Pakistan to certain arrests made in India, describing the claims as baseless and part of a broader campaign to divert attention from India’s domestic security challenges.

Responding to media queries regarding the allegations, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the assertions were another manifestation of what he described as India’s “malicious campaign” against Pakistan.

“Such propaganda is yet another demonstration of India’s malicious campaign against Pakistan to divert attention from its domestic security challenges and to blame Pakistan for narrow domestic political gains,” Andrabi said.

The spokesperson further accused India of suppressing dissent and minorities domestically while alleging that New Delhi was involved in supporting terrorist activities and destabilisation efforts abroad.

“At home, India is a repressive state, brutally oppressing its minorities and silencing dissent. Externally, India is exporting terror and abetting terrorists,” he said.

Andrabi maintained that what he called unfounded Indian allegations could not divert international attention from Pakistan’s accusations against India, including claims of state-sponsored terrorism, targeted assassinations and attempts to undermine stability in other countries.

He said Pakistan had repeatedly shared what it described as evidence of Indian involvement in terrorism and destabilising activities inside Pakistan.

The Foreign Office spokesperson also cited the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former Indian naval officer who was arrested by Pakistan and convicted by a Pakistani military court, as evidence of India’s alleged involvement in what Pakistan describes as subversive and terrorist activities.

“The convicted and serving Indian naval commander, Kulbhushan Jadhav, is undeniable proof of India’s direct involvement in subversion and terrorism in Pakistan,” Andrabi said.

Pakistan, he added, called on the international community to reject what it termed baseless allegations by India and to hold New Delhi accountable for alleged state-sponsored terrorism in the region.
