ISLAMABAD: Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has formally assumed charge as Inspector General of Islamabad Police.

The new IG arrived at the Central Police Office, where he was warmly welcomed by police officers and personnel. A formal change-of-command ceremony was held, during which a smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honour.

Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry held introductory meetings with police officers and received detailed briefings on professional and operational matters. He also met the Central Police Office staff and discussed various issues.

The new IG visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid a floral wreath and offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the police martyrs. He paid tribute to their sacrifices, saying they would always be remembered and that the police force would carry forward their mission.

Captain Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry said maintaining law and order and protecting citizens were his top priorities. He directed that timely and effective police services be provided to citizens.

He said there would be no compromise on merit, transparency and the supremacy of law. Effective measures would be taken to prevent crime and protect the lives and property of citizens.

The IG said Islamabad Police’s professional capabilities would be further enhanced, while traffic management and public facilities in the capital would also be improved.

He directed police officers and personnel to demonstrate courteous, responsible and professional behaviour toward citizens and said efforts would be made to further strengthen public trust in the police.

The new IG also stressed the effective use of modern technology to improve the policing system and called for stronger accountability and discipline within Islamabad Police.

He reiterated that Islamabad Police would perform its duties with full responsibility to ensure citizens’ safety and the rule of law.
