Islamabad, The Islamabad Police have successfully continued their streak of achievements into the new year, with the rapid capture of a suspect involved in a high-profile murder case. The suspect, Wajid Khan, was arrested within 48 hours of the crime, which involved the brutal killing of Sheikh Abdul Rauf.
In a detailed press briefing, DIG Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, announced the breakthrough in the murder investigation. He revealed that the suspect was identified through advanced technology, including CCTV footage from the Safe City cameras, which helped track the killer in a remarkably short time frame.
The Murder and Arrest:
The suspect, Wajid Khan, had worked as a security guard at Al-Mustafa Tower in F-10 for the past three years. Interestingly, he had also been employed as a domestic worker for the victim, Sheikh Abdul Rauf, for the same duration. According to DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq, the suspect’s motive stemmed from personal grievances with the victim, although further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details.
Police Coordination:
The breakthrough in the case was the result of coordinated efforts by Islamabad Police’s senior officials. Special teams were formed under the leadership of SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SP Special Operations Unit Suleman Zafar, DSP Crime Investigation Suleman Shah, and SHO I-9 Kamal Khan. These officers and their teams utilized modern technology to trace the suspect and make the arrest.
Vehicle Recovery and Further Investigation:
DIG Tariq also revealed that the suspect had taken the victim’s car after the murder. The police are now focused on recovering the stolen vehicle as part of their ongoing investigation.
Legal Action:
The arrested suspect, Wajid Khan, has been granted a 5-day physical remand, and the police are confident that they will collect sufficient evidence to present a solid case in court. DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq assured that the authorities will ensure the suspect is brought to justice, emphasizing that the investigation will continue until all aspects of the crime are fully understood.
