Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Meets Bangladeshi Counterpart to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Dhaka- Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi met with Bangladesh’s Minister of Home Affairs, Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, during his official visit to Dhaka today.

Upon arrival at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Minister Naqvi was warmly received by his Bangladeshi counterpart and was presented with a guard of honour.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh. A significant breakthrough was achieved with the principled agreement to grant visa-free entry for diplomatic and official passport holders of both countries.

The two interior ministers also agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of internal security and police training. Discussions were held on strengthening collaboration in counter-narcotics efforts, combating human trafficking, and joint counter-terrorism initiatives.

Both sides deliberated on reciprocal training programs in their respective police academies and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding technical cooperation in security-related domains.

Welcoming Minister Naqvi to Dhaka, the Bangladeshi Minister of Home Affairs stated,

> “I extend a heartfelt welcome to my brother upon his arrival. Your visit is of great significance in promoting Pakistan-Bangladesh bilateral relations.”

He also expressed gratitude to Minister Naqvi for offering police training support and acknowledged Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation on security challenges.

As a major step towards institutionalizing collaboration, the two countries agreed to establish a Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation. From the Pakistani side, Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha will head the committee.

It was further announced that a high-level delegation from Bangladesh will soon visit Islamabad to study the Safe City Project and Pakistan’s National Police Academy.

The meeting was also attended by Bangladesh’s State Minister for Home Affairs Khuda Bakhsh, Home Secretary Nasim Al Ghani, Additional Secretary Security Division Shameem Khan, Chargé d’Affaires at the Pakistan High Commission Muhammad Wasif, Political Counsellor Kamran Dehingal, and other senior officials from both sides.
