Rawalpindi, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, along with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, concluded a day-long visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to break the stalemate in the ongoing US-Iran conflict and explore ways to achieve enduring peace and a permanent end to instability in the region.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Representative of the Supreme Leader on the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The comprehensive discussions focused on measures to prevent further escalation of the conflict, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and efforts to expedite the termination of hostilities. The two sides also exchanged views on regional peace and ways to reach a negotiated settlement of the disputes.

The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and sincere efforts to facilitate dialogue, de-escalation and a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Upon his arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and other senior Iranian civil and military officials.
