Islamabad, According to details, following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi the Islamabad Police has launched an online taxi verification app.
Director General (DG) Safe City Shakir Hussain Dawar stated that the purpose of this app is to ensure the safety of citizens booking online taxis and to establish mutual communication between the police and online taxi services. This will ensure that passengers do not face any unpleasant incidents, and the police will be aware of the movement of passengers and drivers in all online-booked vehicles.
He further mentioned that the app was developed keeping in mind previous incidents involving passengers, especially women, while booking online taxis, and various other suggestions were also considered during its development. The app emphasizes ensuring that the protection of every citizen booking an online taxi is a top priority for online companies and Islamabad Police.
DG Safe City further stated that these effective measures taken by Islamabad Police to secure online taxi bookings for the citizens of the federal capital will also help in reducing incidents. Citizens can visit the official website of Islamabad Police and install the Taxi Verification App. After installing the app, when booking a ride, passengers should scan the QR code pasted on the taxi to ensure that the app is registered with the Islamabad Police’s taxi verification system. For any unverified vehicle or emergency situations, citizens should press the emergency button in the app to notify the police, allowing them to take prompt legal action.
