Rawalpindi, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday that several rudimentary drones allegedly launched by the Afghan Taliban on March 13 were intercepted before reaching their intended targets in Pakistan.
According to the military’s media wing, the drones were neutralized through both “soft and hard kill” measures. However, debris from the intercepted drones caused injuries to four civilians.
Two children were injured in Quetta, while one civilian each was wounded in Kohat and Rawalpindi.
The ISPR said the alleged drone attacks were intended to create fear among the public and described them as reflective of what it termed the “terrorist mindset” of the Afghan Taliban. The statement added that while the Afghan Taliban portray themselves as victims to gain international sympathy, they are simultaneously accused of targeting civilians through proxies and drone attacks.
The military said the people of Pakistan and the country’s armed forces remain fully aware of what it called the “true nature and intentions” of the group ruling Afghanistan.
ISPR further stated that Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq would continue until the Afghan Taliban address Pakistan’s core concerns regarding terrorism originating from Afghan territory.
Pakistan’s armed forces reiterated their commitment to combating terrorism and said they will continue to defend the country and its citizens against such threats.
