NEW YORK, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye on Friday reviewed progress on establishing institutional structures under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement (MJDA), signed by the three countries on August 7.

The matter was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The three foreign ministers also exchanged views on regional and international security issues.

Pakistan has appointed Lieutenant General (retd) Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary-General under the MJDA. He will lead the agreement’s General Secretariat, which is being established in Riyadh.
