Pakistan, Türkiye Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Defence Cooperation

Islamabad, June 11: Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, called on Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad, where both sides reaffirmed the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.

During the meeting, the two sides underscored the deep-rooted ties between the countries, based on shared history, mutual trust, close people-to-people contacts, and strong bilateral cooperation.

General Tokel commended Pakistan’s efforts for promoting peace and stability in the region and emphasized the importance of the Pakistan–Türkiye High-Level Military Dialogue Group (HLMDG) as a key mechanism for advancing defence, military, and defence-industrial cooperation.

The Turkish military chief reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to regional peace and stability and stressed the need for continued collaboration to address common challenges and strengthen strategic ties.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif appreciated the consistent support extended by the leadership and people of Türkiye, particularly during difficult periods, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation.

Both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed ways to enhance defence collaboration. The meeting concluded with a mutual resolve to further strengthen the strategic defence partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye.
