ISLAMABAD, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, Saturday emphasized the need for sweeping reforms in the tax collection system and declared that the government is determined to dismantle corrupt practices through a fully digitalized and transparent framework.
While exclusively speaking with a local media outlet, Sanaullah said there was a dire need to improve tax recoveries through the introduction of the latest digitalized system, adding that the government was already working on smart reforms to modernize the existing structure and ensure transparency in the collection process.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was personally monitoring the reform agenda to make sure all institutions adopt a fair and technology-driven mechanism capable of minimizing human interference and eliminating opportunities for corruption and malpractice.
The adviser maintained that the government’s priority was to strengthen the national economy by broadening the tax net, improving administrative efficiency and implementing advanced digital solutions that would facilitate taxpayers while ensuring strict accountability across the system.
Responding to a query about the proposed 28th Amendment, Rana Sanaullah said that any constitutional amendment should be introduced only through political consensus, stressing that national matters of constitutional importance require collective understanding among all stakeholders.
He said the government believes in democratic consultation and dialogue, adding that no unilateral decision would be imposed on such sensitive issues.
The advisor maintained that consensus remained the only viable solution to ensure political stability and strengthen democratic institutions in the country.
He added that despite challenges, the government was committed to maintaining economic stability through reforms, better financial management, and targeted relief measures.
