Rawalpindi, Two members of the United States House of Representatives held a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters (GHQ), where both sides discussed regional security, bilateral defence cooperation, and ways to strengthen economic engagement between the two countries.

The US delegation comprised Congressman Ryan Keith Zinke of Montana and Congressman Michael James of Washington. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment, defence collaboration, and opportunities to enhance economic cooperation and shared prosperity.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s vast economic potential, stressing that sustainable regional peace and stability are closely linked to economic growth, increased trade, and regional connectivity. He also underscored the government’s ongoing structural reforms aimed at creating a business-friendly environment and attracting greater foreign investment.

The visiting US lawmakers acknowledged Pakistan’s important role in promoting regional stability and strengthening economic resilience. Drawing on the delegation’s professional expertise, both sides explored opportunities to expand bilateral economic engagement, encourage private-sector partnerships, and boost trade relations between Pakistan and the United States.

The delegation thanked Pakistan’s military leadership for the warm reception and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting deeper economic, commercial, and institutional ties between the United States and Pakistan, reflecting a shared interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
