Islamabad, In a significant development for Pakistan’s tourism and trade sectors, the government has officially approved the Minutes of the Meeting on the Restoration of Visa-on-Arrival Facility at the Sost Border for Chinese Tourists, following a high-level meeting held on 23 July 2026.

According to the official communication, the approved minutes have been circulated to all relevant departments for information and necessary action, marking an important step towards restoring the visa-on-arrival facility for Chinese visitors entering Pakistan through the Sost border crossing.

The development follows the recent visit of an SIFC delegation, accompanied by representatives of FPCCI and PATO, led by Raja Nazim Ul Amin, Adviser to the President of Pakistan. During the visit, the restoration of the visa-on-arrival facility was discussed at the highest level of government.

Stakeholders have described this as a landmark achievement, noting that it is the first time the issue of visa-on-arrival for Chinese tourists at the Sost border has been formally addressed and recorded at such a senior policy level.

The move is expected to strengthen tourism, enhance cross-border trade, and deepen Pakistan-China people-to-people connectivity, while supporting broader economic cooperation between the two countries.
