Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Holds Key Meeting with Afghan Counterpart Sirajuddin Haqqani in Kabul

Kabul, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, held a high-level meeting today in Kabul with Afghan Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, focusing on key areas of mutual concern, including counter-terrorism, cross-border infiltration, and the activities of banned outfits such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The meeting was marked by a strong commitment from both sides to enhance bilateral cooperation for peaceful coexistence, regional stability, and coordinated border management.

During the talks, the two leaders discussed mechanisms for effective management of the Pak-Afghan border, strategies to combat narcotics trafficking, and ways to regulate cross-border movement more efficiently. Both sides also deliberated on the repatriation process of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan, ensuring it is managed in a dignified and orderly manner.

Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to brotherly relations with Afghanistan, stating:

> “Terrorist organizations are a source of chaos and instability. We must jointly confront and eliminate this threat. Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees with unmatched hospitality for decades. Our doors remain open to legal and peaceful Afghan entry.”

The ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation to eliminate terrorist threats and improve border coordination. They also reaffirmed the importance of mutual respect, collaboration, and sustained dialogue between both nations.

The meeting was also attended by Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Muhammad Sadiq, Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, senior diplomatic officials, and high-ranking Afghan Ministry of Interior personnel, including Afghan Senior Deputy Interior Minister Ibrahim Sardar.

Earlier in the day, Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Kabul for a one-day official visit, where he was warmly received at Kabul International Airport by Afghan Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Nabi Omari and senior Afghan officials.
