Islamabad, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has invited Turkish investors and maritime companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s maritime sector, highlighting vast potential in ports, logistics, shipping, and the blue economy.
Addressing the 5th Maritime Summit in Istanbul, the minister said green shipping, resilient supply chains, the blue economy, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence are reshaping the future of global trade and maritime development.
He noted that the global maritime sector is undergoing rapid transformation and that no country can tackle emerging challenges or fully benefit from new opportunities alone, stressing the need for stronger international partnerships to achieve sustainable maritime growth.
Congratulating Türkiye on the successful organisation of the summit and the centenary celebrations of its Cabotage Law, Chaudhry described the milestone as a reflection of the country’s commitment to maritime sovereignty and development.
The minister said Türkiye is not only a trusted friend of Pakistan but also a key strategic partner, adding that cooperation between the two countries continues to expand in defence, trade, transport, energy, and maritime affairs on the basis of shared values and mutual trust.
He said Pakistan’s strategic location at the crossroads of South Asia, Central Asia, and the Indian Ocean makes it an important gateway for regional trade and connectivity.
Chaudhry highlighted ongoing reforms at Port Qasim, Karachi Port, Gwadar Port, and the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation aimed at transforming Pakistan into a modern maritime, logistics, and industrial hub.
He identified investment opportunities in port terminals, LNG and energy infrastructure, environmentally friendly ship repair and recycling, maritime industrial zones, business districts, fleet expansion, ferry services, logistics and warehousing, free zones, fisheries and seafood processing, as well as decarbonisation and digitalisation projects.
The minister thanked the Turkish government for hosting the summit and expressed hope that it would generate practical recommendations and lasting partnerships for the global maritime community.
He added that Pakistan and Türkiye are ambassadors of peace and should further strengthen cooperation in the maritime sector to promote sustainable development and regional stability.
