Bishkek: Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, held separate meetings with the interior ministers of Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the SCO Interior Ministers’ meeting.
Pakistan-Russia Agreements
During his meeting with Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, several important agreements were signed, including:
Enhancing cooperation to curb illegal immigration between Pakistan and Russia.
Strengthening collaboration for the repatriation of citizens residing illegally in either country.
Expanding cooperation in combating narcotics trafficking and drug-related crimes.
Meeting with Tajikistan
In talks with Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, discussions focused on terrorist camps operating inside Afghanistan.
Both ministers agreed that terrorist camps and drug production in Afghanistan pose serious security threats to the region. They noted that approximately 25 different terrorist organizations are currently active in Afghanistan.
Meeting with Uzbekistan
During his meeting with Uzbek Interior Minister Aziz Tashpulatov, both sides discussed cooperation between law enforcement agencies and joint training initiatives.
The two countries agreed to establish a working group to enhance cooperation between their interior ministries.
Meeting with Kyrgyzstan
In discussions with Kyrgyz Interior Minister Niyazbek Orolbayev, both sides agreed to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and thanked his counterpart for the arrangements made for the SCO Interior Ministers’ meeting.
Meeting with Kazakhstan
During his meeting with Kazakh Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov, both sides agreed to increase cooperation to prevent illegal immigration.
The two ministers also decided to establish a joint working group between their respective interior ministries to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
