UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has accused India of providing material and logistical support to the Taliban government in Afghanistan to facilitate terrorist attacks against Pakistan, saying Islamabad is fully aware of the cost of what it described as India-sponsored terrorism.

Muhammad Jawad Ajmal, Counsellor at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, made the remarks while exercising Pakistan’s right of reply to comments made by the Indian representative at the UN on October 7.

Ajmal said India’s “newfound love” for the Taliban regime was not accidental and alleged that New Delhi was using humanitarian assistance as a cover for supporting the Afghan authorities.

He said India was providing the Taliban regime with material and logistical support for carrying out terrorist attacks against Pakistan under the guise of humanitarian aid.

The Pakistani diplomat further alleged that India was using proxies in Afghanistan to support militant groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which Pakistan refers to as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan respectively.

Pakistan Warns of Regional Destabilisation

Ajmal said Pakistan had repeatedly warned the international community about Indian efforts to “sow discord and create mischief” in the region.

He also accused India of human rights violations, alleging that New Delhi had mainstreamed Islamophobia and extremist ideologies and was attempting to engineer demographic changes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Pakistan maintains that such actions violate international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Reference to Kulbhushan Jadhav

Ajmal also referred to the case of Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, whom Pakistan says was a serving Indian naval officer involved in espionage, sabotage and terrorist activities in Pakistan.

He described Jadhav’s capture on Pakistani territory as an example of what Pakistan calls “Indian state terrorism,” alleging that Jadhav had confessed to involvement in sabotage, espionage and multiple terrorist incidents that resulted in the deaths of civilians, including women and children.

Pakistan Raises Alleged Overseas Assassination Plots

The Pakistani envoy also accused India of involvement in extraterritorial killings and assassination plots abroad.

He referred to Nikhil Gupta, who pleaded guilty in the United States in connection with a plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist leader, as well as the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.

Ajmal said such cases had become a “global feature” of what Pakistan described as India’s unlawful activities.

Islamabad Vows to Defend Sovereignty

The Pakistani diplomat said Islamabad would take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, people and security.

At the same time, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to resolving disputes peacefully and respecting international law and the UN Charter.

“Pakistan will defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, its people and its security,” Ajmal said, stressing that Islamabad would do everything necessary to safeguard these interests while maintaining its commitment to peaceful settlement of disputes.

He also referred to Operation Sindoor, India’s military operation in May 2025, and Pakistan’s subsequent military response, saying the international community had witnessed the developments and Pakistan’s response.
